The Weekly Share Vol. 1

September 4, 2020      2 Comments

Welcome to the inaugural The Weekly Share! Inspired by some of our favorite content creators we are going to end the week on a positive note– by sharing some of our favorite links, recommendations, book deals, and our favorite bookish news from the week.

Bookish Happenings

  • Frolic revealed the cover for When Tara met Farrah by Tara Pammi, the first in Pammi’s new Bollywood Drama & Dance romance series.
  • Amazon Live hosted romance authors Meghan Quinn, Corrine Michaels, Clare Contreras and Melissa Foster. The recording is still available on their website.
  • I haven’t accomplished much this quarantine, but apparently Channing Tatum spent it writing a children’s book for his daughter!

Links & Reccomendations

  • I am drinking a lot more homemade coffee drinks and to spice things up I’ve been on the hunt for syrups and discovered Amoretti ! Their Crema Di Pumpkin taste just like Starbucks’ PSL. – Kat
  • Attention bloggers, two sources I just discovered for free (free free) aesthetically pleasing images are Pexels.com and Unsplash.com. They beautify any content! – Jess
  • Looking for a TV show with 100 + hours of entertainment? I’ve been watching NBC’s Chicago Fire, it’s an over-the-top action-packed drama that has somehow been on for nine years? Plus it’s free on IMDBtv – Jess
  • One of my favorite review channels on YouTube is 2GAYDADS. They review all the newest fast food and junk food (and candles)! They recently reviewed Dairy Queen’s Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake, I’ve never even heard of this and now I want one! – Kat

New Cover Who Dis ? Paperback Remix

September 1, 2020      Leave a Comment

I love a good cover change. It’s always fun to see the way publishers repackage books when it’s time for the paperbacks to come out. Many give the covers a reveamp to go with the 2020 illustrated cover trend and some just get a hue change.

In the mid-2010’s moving to WordPress was this rite of passage for book bloggers. The process always looked intimidating so we put it off for years.  I started researching and found the process was more streamlined than I remembered. I’m moderately tech-savvy and felt I could Google my way through it. Also, the new Blogger made me ready to jump ship.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

 9 hours 58 min. | G.P. Putnam’s Son | Adult Fiction  | Release Date: 12/31/19

2020 has been kind of a meh reading year for me so I decided to switch it up with some upmarket book club-y fiction. This is one of those books where it’s better to go in with as little information as possible. Such a Fun Age starts with 25-year-old Emira, a Black girl living in Philadelphia, being racially profiled while babysitting a white child. The book then follows Emira as she tries to figure out how to become a “real adult” and her boss, Alix Chamberlain, who starts noticing Emira in a new way after the incident.
