We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Okay This is going to be
a hard review to write. One of the reasons I had to read We Were Liars was
because I
kept hearing that this was the
book to read, but you can’t know what it is about. . . you just have to read it.

Honestly, if you
don’t see it coming (which I did but the book made me doubt myself)  I think this book will shock you and have you flipping back and re-reading over and over again.

We Were Liars
centers around   Cadence Sinclair and
the extended Sinclair family. Each summer  he family summers on their private island. Blonde, pretty and
privileged on the outside the Sinclairs seems to have everything, but on the inside  greed,
jealousy and denial threaten to take over.

Something happens on  Cady’s  15th summer at the island that she has no memory of, now two years later she’s going to find out how far the lies go.

This was exactly the type of contemporary novel that works for me because it takes on so many topics. Lockhart explores  race, class, romance and family in a way
that makes you doubt what you know and what you think you know about the characters.

If At First You Don’t Succeed Chai and Chai Again

May 2, 2014      6 Comments

Every weekend we like to take a step  from the behind the books and share a little insight on the people behind the blog. Whether it’s what we’re into this week,  new hobbies , tv rants or just a fun experience, we’re an open book !

I like to mix these together. The pumpkin spice is so good but seasonal.

Look out for it next fall !

When I’m ready to read I need  a caffeine kick to keep me focused. Lately, my quick go to beverage is a creamy vanilla chai tea latte. The cinnamony-pepperiness of the chai goes so well with sweet creamy vanilla.

I discovered chai tea in college when I was working on a group project at Starbucks. Someone ordered a Vanilla Chai Tea Frappuccino and I decided to try one to cause it sounded classy. I was blown away by the creamy, sweet, peppery spice flavor.

This winter I discovered the Tazo chai latte mix on sale and (as you do at Target) I bought it. The boxed chai is so simple to make. . . just add warm milk !

I call mine creamy because I customize it by adding in a pump or two of Torani’s Vanilla Syrup. Then to make it extra rich I froth up the warm milk with my Aerolatte milk frother.
