End Of The Year Book Haul

December 31, 2016      Leave a Comment

Between Black Friday Deals and Christmas sales here are the last few books I got to round out 2016

Book Outlet

Book Outlet always has great sales and their Black Friday sale was no exception !

The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion

I started reading the first book in this series and I’m curious enough to see what a sequel will look like

The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes

This book sounds SOOO creepy (I believe it involves murder, taxidermy, and time travel ) but I’m just really curious about what the serial killer’s motives are.

All American Boys by Jayson Reynolds and Brandon Kiely

I’ve been wanting to read this one for a long time.
The Weight of Feathers by Ann-Marie McLemore

I saw this book featured on Rich In Color. It features forbidden romance and magical performances. Could I be getting The Night Circus vibes ?

In The Bleak Midwinter by Julia Spencer-Fleming

I’ve heard Sara Wendell talk about this book on her podcast multiple times and I just started watching Grantchester on PBS so I guess mystery-solving-priest is a thing I consume now?

The Secret History of The Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig

Okay, I don’t do time travel, I’m just not a fan but I (as always) heard Lauren Willig on a podcast and decided to pick this up. I’ve also heard this is a feminist romance novel.

Target

Target also had some select books on sale

The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

So I’ve seen mixed reviews on this one but I got it because a lot of the reviews found the character unlikable and I like unlikeable characters. I started reading it and for some reason, I get Uglies vibes from the writing style

December Deals

Barnes & Noble had free shipping and 30% off coupon this year.

The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafrón (Drops Caps)

I got this one for two reasons. One, because my goal last year was to read a Penguin Drop Caps book because they are so pretty and two because someone recommended this book to me in 2012 at a temp job and I’ve been meaning to read it ever since.

The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough

Another book I discovered on Rich in Color, this is a forbidden romance with fantasy elements.

Christmas Gifts

Get Your Sh*t Together by Sarah Knight

I don’t know much about this book. I gather it’s comedic self-help?

That’s it for books I’ll be hauling into 2017!
