Sense List Vol.6

April 17, 2012      1 Comment

Welcome to The Sense List ! A feature on Books and Sensibility where we wrap up current YA news and events. This feature was inspired by YA Highway’s Field Trip Friday and Novel Thoughts This Week In YA

The Sense List was MIA last week so this week’s Sense List is a mix of the first two weeks of April.

  • 20 year-old book blogger and author Lindsay Cummings  sold her first book to to HarperCollins !

  • YA author Lauren Oliver sold her first adult novel to Harpers Collins entitled Room. Also Oliver’s book Before I Fall gets a director

  • Teenage writer’s parents pay up to 400 dollars to get their kids books published. Does that make them published authors ? Maureen Johnson has some words. (via YAHighway)

  • Between Shades of Gray won Indies Choice Book Award,YA book of the year

  • First a film, now a graphic novel ! Kami Garcia announced on Twitter that a graphic novel of Beautiful Creatures is under way.

  • Wate a minute . . . A new Ethan Carter Wate is cast for the Beautiful Creatures film.

  • Gary Ross won’t be back as director for Catching Fire, Is it like a curse that one series can’t keep the same director ?
  • Feminist Frequency discusses Hunger Games novels and film
  • Have an idea for a session at the (free) Book Blogger Unconference in Midtown Manhattan ? Let your voice be heard.
