If These Books Were Judged By Their Covers : Let Me Hear Your Body Talk

November 4, 2011      2 Comments

I love a good contemporary novel and as I browse the shelves I noticed a trend. Legs! Shoes! Calves! Body parts have become cover hallmarks and why not? They give you something to look at while still letting you imagine the characters’ face.

Classic Leg Pop

Remember that scene in the Princess Diaries movie where Mia talks about her leg popping on her first kiss ? Well, these covers got the message. Notice that the girls is almost always on the left  and she usually appears shorter than the man.

More Leg Room

If the foot doesn’t pop, covers use legs to convey other emotions from dislike, flirtiness, and joy !

Hand It Over

Some covers have even moved up from just legs to legs and hand-holding. What is more couple-like than that?

Let’s Face It

Fret not! People on covers aren’t just disembodied parts. It seems a new trend has done away with pretenses and includes full faces. And I have to admit, for me  it is a little jarring when you first see a full-on face and body on a book cover.

So, what are your favorite couple covers ? Have you seen any full body/face covers recently?
