Cover Wars : US vs. The World Vol. 3

November 14, 2011      Leave a Comment

Inspired by I Want To Read That and Not Enough Bookshelves as well as my own love of pretty book covers, Books and Sensibility presents Cover Wars : US vs The World.

The Infernal Devices

The artwork on the American covers of The Infernal Devices are done by Cliff Neilsen. The artwork is amazing, it’s beautiful and so lifelike. However, I like the up-close intensity in the Italian cover. Also, I like how it’s called ShadowHunters : Orgins. It’s not a completely accurate title but, sounds pretty awesome.

Winner : US

Breaking Dawn

Many of the European covers focus on close ups of images. Another example, the German cover of Breaking Dawn. It almost looks like a painting and more mature than the US cover. Even though I’m used to seeing the US cover I give this on to Germany.

Winner : Germany

Looking For Alaska

So, both covers use similar coloring schemes. While the US is more symbolic of the book, the cover of the UK one is more whimsical. I love the UK one, if I ever get over there I am going to buy myself one of these.

Winner: UK
