Welcome to The Sense List, a new feature on Books and Sensibility with a wrap up of YA news and events that we took notice of. This new feature is inspired by YA Highway's Field Trip Friday and Novel Thoughts This Week In YA

Oscar Buzz !

  • The Oscars were quite a buzz for book lovers with The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris winning best animated short. Learn more about the short film at Steph's Stacks

  • Hugo the film based on the middle grade novel by Brian Selsznick took home a total of 5 academy awards. Many bookish types on Twitter were upset at the lack credit given to Selznick during the award ceremony. There was even a drinking game.

  • After 8  movies and 10 years  the Harry Potter franchise walks away with zero Academy Awards. Many felt Harry Potter was robbed, but being a international phenomenon doesn't always guarantee you an Oscar.

  1. I really like this meme.

I really want Hunger Game nail polish. Normally I do not jump on the merch bandwagon, but I truly cannot resist.

I am ready to hear what you think of Darker Still. I absolutely loved it. It was very reminiscent of the Picture of Dorian Grey meets Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I loved it. :D

  2. Love this new feature. I don't really go searching for bookish news too much so I love sites that will give me the headlines all in one place! The Katniss Barbie is a good idea. It will give young girls something strong to admire.

  3. What a great feature! Found you through Bookish Comforts. New Follower :) :) I can't believe that Harry Potter didn't get any awards. That just blows my mind.

I wish I was going to BEA! That would so amazing to see Chris Colfter MC. I love him :) Thanks for the news - - I wouldn't have known most of this stuff without it :)
