I am definitely one of those people who will buy for the author and not for the book. Here are some authors I put on my auto buy list.
1. JOHN GREEN
I imagine this is a popular answer, but with every new book I enjoy his writing more. His most recent novels have been about such diverse experiences and I'm always curious to see what he will do next.
2. MAGGIE STEIFVATER
The Raven Boys was my favorite book of 2011. Maggie has an excellent way with words, so I will always turn to her for good writing.
3. LAUREN OLIVER
Another excellent writer. I liked the imagery and writing in Delirium.
4. ERIN MORGENSTERN
The Night Circus was an amazing novel and I just have to know what else in in Morgenstern's head.
5. Morgan Matson
Amy and Roger was such an endearing and creative first novel. Matson made it clear she is an excellent story teller and I can't wait to see what she does next.
6. Kami Garcia
6. Kami Garcia
After hearing her speak last weekend, it became really clear that she has a great grasp of novel writing and supernatural elements, I can't wait to see what she does solo.
7. A.S King
King has an amazing voice and such a unique writing style. I really like her views on YA writing.
8. David Levithan
I know when I pick up his books I'll get a great story, wonderful voice and because most of his solo novels are short, they don't take long to read.
9. Laini Taylor
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is such a complex and magical story, I can't wait to see what else she can do !
10. Sarah Dessen
I've read about half of Dessen's 10 books and I still haven't gotten bored. She is classic YA to me and always on my autobuy list.

John Green was on my list as well. I agree, he will probably appear on a lot of lists. I liked seeing who you would auto-buy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading,
Sara @ Just Another Story
John Green and Morgan Matson made my list too. I really need to read The Night Circus, I have it sat on my bookshelf but I just need the time to read it. Great list!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten
Maggie Stiefvater. Writes wonderful books, is hilarious in person, should have been included on MY list, too. *le sigh*
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your picks! (you have great taste)(really)
Love both John Green and Sarah Dessen! I have Taylor, Morgenstern, Stiefvater, and Matson on my wishlist and I hope to read their books soon. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis list just reminds me I have A LOT of great books to read. I still haven't read anything by Green or Levithan and I MUST remedy this - this year! I have The Night Circus as well and plan to read that this year, I've of course heard great things! On a completely superficial note, I had no idea how cute Green is.. :D
ReplyDeleteAh, Maggie Stiefvater. Her writing may not be for everyone, but it's certainly something I enjoy. Plus, Sarah Dessen, John Green, David Levithan and Morgan Matson are all really fab!
ReplyDeleteSo many I still need to read books by! But I have a feeling would be on my list if I had. I really need to read more of John Green's older books because The Fault in Our Stars is one of my favorites. :)
