Skylark Release Party @ One More Page Books in Arlington, VA

I love the details on the cake.
Last weekend, Kat and I headed to the Northern Virginia bookstore,One More Page Books, for the release party of Skylark by Meagan Spooner. We've been excited for this book since BEA, so we just had to go to the release.

The party was packed with friends and family of Meagan along with readers, booksellers and of course bloggers.

Meagan made a wonderful speech to start off the night. You can tell she has great friends and family supporting her. During the signing she took her time talking with each person and writing a personal message in each book.

Meagan has such a great energy about her and towards the end of the night she took the time to talk us about her journey to publication and her writing process.

We got to see the UK cover of Skylark and learned that the genre of the novel is less Dystopian and more Magical Steampunk. Doesn't that sound like an awesome genre ?

The party was catered by Asia Nine and featured some unique sushi and other Asian fusion bites. The food was  delicious, but the cake was the star of the event. It was beautifully decorated by Meagan's roommate. So shiny !

It was such an exciting event and  was the first official launch party we have ever attended. Bloggers we saw included Cecelia from Adventures of Cecelia Bedelia and Jessica from Step Into Fiction

We also got to hang out with writer/blogger Markella from Hardcover Life. Kat and I already love her reviews so go check out Hardcover Life. It was so wonderful meeting other book lovers out in the "real world"

We wish Meagan the best of luck. Her next novel These Broken Stars (co-authored with her best friend Amie Kaufman) sounds amazing.

  1. The cover of Skylark is SO PRETTY. It sounds like it was such a fun event!

  2. You guys are really so sweet! I loved hanging out with you. Great write up. I've been too lazy to write my own. Since it's her launch day maybe I should....Did you end up getting the pics you wanted?

  3. That's so cool! I wish we had these types of events in my area. She sounds like a really nice and sweet person, with a great imagination! I'll have to look out for this book! Glad you ladies had fun!

  4. I really like the colors used on the cover

  5. Hopefully they will have some events near you soon.

  6. Yes. It was a good thing Ellen Wright was taking photos because our pictures were terrible (: We had so much fun !

  7. Book events is something I need to look into ..where would one look to find out events like this in my town? Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog. Playaway is great for convenience but you're screwed if it drop it hard and doesn't start back where you left off ..rare case so don't let that hesitate you from trying te experience of this type of audio. --New follower. :)
